About MICC

Minnesota Independence College and Community is a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young adults with neurodiverse backgrounds. Founded in 1996, our mission is to provide comprehensive, person-centered programs that foster independence, skill development, and social engagement, enabling our participants to lead fulfilling lives.
We believe in:
  • Inclusivity: We celebrate diversity and embrace neurodiversity as a source of strength. We provide an inclusive and accepting environment where everyone is valued for who they are.
  • Independence: We believe in the potential of each individual to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. Our programs are designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence they need to navigate the world with autonomy.
  • Education: Learning is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to providing experiential and practical education. Our participants learn by doing, whether it's mastering independent living skills, exploring career pathways, or developing social competencies.
  • Community: MICC is more than an organization; it's a supportive and vibrant community. We prioritize the importance of relationships, peer connections, and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of our community.
The College Program is a transformative experience that focuses on independent living skills, career development, and social engagement. We prepare participants for successful transitions to adulthood through intentional curriculum and integration into the 'real world'.

MICC's campus is your learning environment. Whether you're in your apartment, at a local store, or exploring the Twin Cities, you'll learn by doing, fostering real-world skills that last a lifetime.
