About MICC
Minnesota Independence College and Community is a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young adults with neurodiverse backgrounds. Founded in 1996, our mission is to provide comprehensive, person-centered programs that foster independence, skill development, and social engagement, enabling our participants to lead fulfilling lives.
We believe in:
- Inclusivity: We celebrate diversity and embrace neurodiversity as a source of strength. We provide an inclusive and accepting environment where everyone is valued for who they are.
- Independence: We believe in the potential of each individual to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. Our programs are designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence they need to navigate the world with autonomy.
- Education: Learning is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to providing experiential and practical education. Our participants learn by doing, whether it's mastering independent living skills, exploring career pathways, or developing social competencies.
- Community: MICC is more than an organization; it's a supportive and vibrant community. We prioritize the importance of relationships, peer connections, and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of our community.
The College Program is a transformative experience that focuses on independent living skills, career development, and social engagement. We prepare participants for successful transitions to adulthood through intentional curriculum and integration into the 'real world'.
