MICC's Participants of the Month are awarded by nominations from both peers and staff for individuals who have clearly demonstrated one or more of our three R’s: responsibility, resilience, and respect.

Read more about Zach and Graham, this month's winners.

Participant of the Month (College): Zach

Zach's positive attitude and exemplary behavior have made a significant impact on the MICC community. He embodies MICC’s 3-Rs and was nominated for each! He is known for his impeccable manners and politeness. He consistently treats others with respect and kindness, making him a joy to be around. Zach takes responsibility seriously. One of his roommates shared, “He consistently does his and all the other roommate dishes without even asking anyone”.

An MICC staff member shared, “Zach is very respectful to all and has a big heart and a great sense of humor. He is responsible and is always in class on time and prepared, participates in a positive manner, and takes great care of his apartment.”

Zach shared some insights into his time at MICC. He's currently in his second year in the College Program, a junior. Some of his favorite memories involve engaging in fun activities, watching movies, playing games, and visiting malls with his friends at MICC. He particularly enjoys participating in Food with Friends and Social Skills classes. Zach is also enthusiastic about his Careers practicums, and various Social Engagement electives like Kairos Alive!, Gardening, History of Video Games, and Cinema through the Decades.

When asked about why he believes he's been recognized as Participant of the Month, Zach highlighted his commitment to the three R's, his good attitude, and his overall respectful and kind demeanor towards others.

In Zach's words, "MICC is my favorite college school because I have the best students and the best teachers."

We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Zach for being an outstanding member of the MICC community. Congratulations!

Participant of the Month (Community): Graham

Graham is a proud MICC alumnus from the Class of 2014. His unwavering resilience, responsibility, and positive attitude have shone brightly, earning him this well-deserved recognition.

Graham has proven himself to be a dedicated and hardworking individual who strives to be a role model for his peers. Shortly after experiencing a job loss, he wasted no time in seeking out new opportunities. His determination paid off when he landed a job at Byerly's, impressing his new employer. Staff commented, “He always has a positive attitude and that does not go unnoticed and is always appreciated by participants and staff!”

Two fun facts about Graham are 1) he’s met Mark Wahlberg, and 2) He’s met Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs.

As an MICC Community participant, he enjoys attending various social activities such as making popovers and attending a darts tournament with a staff member.

In Graham's own words, "I think that I've been recognized as the Participant of the Month because I'm always trying to include people to hang out with me. I always have a smile on my face, and I have a positive attitude no matter what is going on. And I am a naturally friendly person."

MICC is honored to have individuals like Graham in our community who embody these values and set an example for us all. Congratulations!
