We have some exciting news to share from the MICC community! Starting this September, we're doubling the celebration as we recognize not one but two remarkable participants of the month - one from the College Program and one from the Community Program.

Participant of the Month is awarded by nominations from both peers and staff for individuals who have clearly demonstrated one or more of our three R’s: responsibility, resilience, and respect.

Let's dive into the stories of our exceptional participants for this month.

Participant of the Month (Community): Rachel

PictureRachel, Community Participant of the Month - Sept 2023
Rachel is an MICC College Program graduate of 2023 who has transitioned into the Community Program. Her journey at MICC has been marked by growth and engagement. Rachel's taste buds delight in Kit Kats, fruit snacks, and Taco Bell's tacos. But beyond that, she's an avid Lego Ninjago enthusiast, enjoying the challenge of putting together intricate sets. For Rachel, her favorite memories at MICC are all about the people - meeting new friends and building lasting connections. Nature Photography and off-campus socials are Rachel's go-to choices for her favorite classes and activities. These classes allow her to explore her interests and enjoy the outdoors.

Rachel embodies the MICC spirit through her commitment to the 3Rs - Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. Her positive attitude, engagement in classes, and the friendships she cultivates reflect her dedication to personal and community growth.

Congratulations, Rachel!

Participant of the Month (College): Eric

Eric, a senior in MICC's College Program, has made significant strides in his journey towards independence and personal development. Eric cherishes the memories of taking his club to places like Outback and Como Zoo, along with hosting guest speakers in his EA (Employment Advisor) club. These experiences have enriched his MICC journey. Eric's favorite classes and activities include the Star Wars in Concert, Como Zoo outings, and the Minnesota Zoo class. He's particularly passionate about zoology and job skills classes, hoping to see the return of these offerings. Eric has a love for art and perler beads, showcasing his creative side. He's also an enthusiast for going on adventures and has a deep fondness for animals.

Eric's recognition is well-deserved for his kind-hearted and helpful nature. He's shown growth by offering assistance to peers without being asked, being a responsible and professional team player, and participating actively in classes.

Congratulations, Eric

Join us in celebrating Rachel and Eric as our outstanding Participants of the Month for September! Their stories remind us of the diverse talents and qualities that make up our vibrant MICC community. Let's continue to support and applaud their journeys of growth and independence!
